Information We Collect
When you sign up and use Donoro, we collect some basic information to make the app work properly for you. Here's exactly what we collect and why:
Your Profile Details
- Your full name, email address, and phone number so we can identify your account
- Your gender and date of birth to check if you're eligible to donate blood
- Your home area (district/division) to help match you with nearby blood requests
- Your national ID number if you register as a donor — this helps us verify your identity and build trust with requesters
Your Location
- Your current location when you search for donors or respond to a blood request
- We only check your location when you actively use those features — not in the background
Your Device
- The type of phone or computer you use (e.g., Android, iPhone) so the app works correctly on your device
- A unique ID linked to your device so we can send you app notifications, like alerts when someone nearby needs blood
- When you first logged in and the last time you were active
How You Use the App
- Whether you opened or dismissed a notification
- Blood requests you created and their current status
- Your donation history and how quickly you responded to donation invitations
How We Use Your Information
We only use your information to run and improve Donoro. Here's how:
- To find the right blood donors near someone in need — based on blood type and distance
- To send you alerts and notifications, like when there's a blood request near you or when someone responds to yours
- To check whether you're ready to donate again, based on how long it's been since your last donation
- To show your profile and ratings to other Donoro users so they can trust and connect with you
- To understand how the app is used overall — we only look at totals, never at individual people's activity
We never sell your information or use it for advertising. Everything we collect is used only to make Donoro work better for you.
Location Data
Your location is only used to find blood donors close to someone who needs help. We save it securely and never share it with anyone outside Donoro.
When someone searches for a donor, they can see roughly how far away you are — for example, "3 km away". They cannot see your exact home address or pin you on a map.
You can update or remove your saved location at any time from your Profile settings. If you remove it, you simply won't appear in nearby donor searches.
Other Services We Use
To keep Donoro running smoothly, we work with a small number of trusted companies. Each handles your data responsibly under their own privacy rules:
Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
We only share the minimum information each service needs to do its job. None of them can see your full profile or use your data for their own purposes.
How Long We Keep Your Data
We don't hold on to your data any longer than necessary:
- One-time verification codes (like the code sent to confirm your email) are deleted as soon as you use them — or after 30 minutes if you don't
- The notification settings tied to your device are kept while your account is active and removed when you sign out of that device
- Your account and profile information is kept for as long as your account is open
If you delete your account, it enters a 30-day recovery period — just in case you change your mind. After 30 days, everything is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems.
Your Rights
You are always in control of your information. You can:
- Ask us for a copy of all the information we have about you
- Update or correct your profile details at any time from within the app
- Delete your account — and all your data will be permanently removed after 30 days
- Remove a specific phone or device from your account if it's lost or you no longer use it
- Turn off notifications on any of your devices whenever you like
To exercise any of these rights, simply go to your account settings — or contact us at [email protected] and we'll help you right away.
How We Keep You Safe
We take your security seriously. Here's what we do to protect your account:
- Your password is scrambled using a strong one-way process — no one at Donoro can ever read it, not even our team
- Your login session automatically expires after 24 hours, so even if someone gets your session, it won't last long
- You can see all the devices logged into your account and instantly sign out of any of them remotely
- All data sent between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit
If you think someone else has accessed your account, go to Settings → Security → Devices and sign out of all sessions right away. Then change your password.
Children's Privacy
Donoro is designed for adults aged 18 and above. Donating blood requires being an adult, so our platform is not suitable for children or teenagers.
We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone under 18. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will immediately close their account and delete all their data.
If you believe a child has signed up for Donoro, please let us know at [email protected] so we can take action quickly.
